Motive

Philippians 1:18

“But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,”

When a child is given a chore to do usually it is going to require an incentive. Some type of bargaining chip. For example, If you mow the lawn I’ll give you twenty dollars. The lawn gets mowed. The father slips the child the bill. Everybody is happy. Nobody cares that the job was done out of false motives for no one knew about the incentive, nor did they see the exchange. But what about the child that does all the work for no other reason than to please dad? A selfish and lazy father will take advantage of that faithful child but a good and loving father will reward that child openly and give him/her great honor. How do you see your Heavenly Father? I am confident in saying He is good and God is love.
